If you have had gastric bypass surgery or used a method of diet and exercise and have lost a significant amount of weight, you may now have another annoying problem, excess skin. And, it may seem to be everywhere and always in the way. We understand your frustration and can help.

Since the gastric bypass revolution, we have seen a significant increase in patients who need skin removal from all areas of their body. At our office we spend a lot of time helping people just like you get their figures back.

Most patients with significant weight loss need more than one procedure. You have come a long way with surgery, diet, and exercise but the final result is not yet revealed. Under all that extra skin is the person you have worked so hard to become. It is like a cake with no icing; the icing is the finishing touch. In this case, plastic surgery can be your finishing touch.

During your consultation with the doctor and his patient coordinator, a plan is formed based on several factors. Communication is extremely important. You must be able to tell us what areas you are concerned with the most and our staff will make sure that you understand what can or cannot be done.

Safety of our patients is the number one concern for our doctors, and therefore every patient has a different plan for surgery. All patients are treated like the unique individuals they are, taking into consideration their special needs. Once there is a mutual agreement on a plan for surgery, the patient coordinator will review all other aspects of surgery with the patient. We will give you surgery fees for the doctor, facility, and anesthesia. We will offer financing options, review "before" and "after" photos of previous patients with you, and answer any other questions you may have.

Insurance is not likely to cover any of the procedures necessary for removing excess skin, so we offer outside financing options to our patients. Most of the time patients are having combined procedures that can become costly. With financing, you will be able to have surgery and make monthly payments. We have found that many patients take advantage of this option. It is easy to apply and the patient care coordinator will take care of the paperwork after you are approved. We will be happy to discuss any insurance issues with you on an individual basis with reference to on your specific coverage. We also discuss the office policy regarding insurance in each case. Our goal is to help make surgery a reasonable possibility for all of our patients.
